A collaboration with #CommunismKills; a huge billboard campaign in New York’s Times Square to raise awareness about the still existing dangers of communism around the world, launched by Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, a non-profit educational and human rights organization based in Washington D.C. Sergio Valens’ photograph of cuban dissident Sirley Avila Leon taken while shooting the interview for "Voces de Cuba" project, was one of the two pictures selected to be the face of this campaign. The image was displayed in the billboards of this iconic location of the capital of the world for months.
